The DBTAC - Southeast ADA Center is partnering with the Burton Blatt Institute: Centers of Innovation on Disability (BBI) at Syracuse University (SU) on three exemplary pilot projects to enhance and further disseminate cutting edge work. The BBI legal research team will identify and analyze federal court decisions and state legal and policy developments relevant to civil rights protections under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) which particularly impact the southeast region of the United States. BBI is partnering with SU demography scholars to produce a comprehensive study of demography, disability, and industry characteristics in the southeast U.S. region. BBI also is partnering with SU information studies scholars to study the virtual community, real-time communication capabilities of Southeast DBTAC affiliates, for the improvement of services that enhance the employment outcomes of persons with disabilities.
BBI senior researcher William Myhill leads the BBI legal team that will produce monthly ADA case law development impact statements including timely and informative guidance for business and disability stakeholders. Additionally, ADA Case Law ‘Alerts’ will provide discussion of relevant Circuit Court and U.S. Supreme Court decisions within 24 hours of a published decision, emphasizing relevance to and impact on the southeast states and/or industries.
